99 New York, NY, June 1, 2009: The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today released the text of a letter to cartoonist Garry Trudeau concerning his Doonsbury strip of May 31, 2009:

Dear Mr. Trudeau:
We agree with the numerous people who are contacting us that Sunday's Doonesbury misquotes the Bible, maligns Judaism, and promotes a Christian heresy, all within eight panels. It reinforces age-old stereotypes about Judaism that have been the cause of much suffering and pain over the centuries, and which have been rejected by a variety of Christian denominations over the last decades.
Jesus' concern in the Gospels is with money-changers, not money-lenders. The money-changers converted the coins of the Roman Empire into the currency accepted by the Jerusalem Temple, as money-changers today convert dollars into Euros. To speak of money-lenders harkens back the stereotype of Shylock, when Jews were forced by Christians to engage in usury.
Christian teaching is clear: the God of the Old Testament is the same God as the God of the New Testament. Doonesbury's Reverend Sloan is guilty of promoting anti-Jewish stereotypes and biblical illiteracy. He owes both Jews and Christians an apology.

My friends, this is about mass murder, past present and future so I'm going to tell it the way I see it.

You might know that the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is a Jewish organization that is super-alert to detect real or imagined criticism of the Jews or Israel. It's response is public vilification of offenders with accusations of antisemitism, Jew hate, holocaust denial, blood libel and demands for apologies. Its objective is to publicly identify offenders to have them damaged by Christian Zionists, Jews, anti-racists and employers who don't want to be associated with antisemitism and racism. Such damage could be loss of employment or reputation for example. The result is that people self-censor in discussing matters concerning Jews, particularly the Jewish colonization of Palestine. The media also self-censor to avoid accusations of antisemitism.

Let's consider the ADL's objections. The Greek word in the text, Strong's lexicon G2855 transliterates as kollybistēs which can mean either money changer or lender. In any case, in reports of this incident in the first three Gospels, Jesus overturns their tables saying, “The Scriptures declare, ‘My Temple will be a house of prayer,’ but you have turned it into a den of thieves." In John, he additionally fashions a whip from a rope and drives them from the temple. Whether money-changers or lenders, they were thieves, ie exchange rate sharks, loan sharks or both. This ADL objection is flummery and deception that relies on readers a) not knowing their bibles and b) not wanting anti-Semitic thoughts, on which more below.

The ADL and associated Jewish organizations don't want Christians thinking that Jews ever lent money at extortionate rates (usury) from choice, but were forced to do so by Christians. That's their story, like the one that you'll find on any Jewish website teaching Judaism that the Jews didn't kill Jesus - the Romans did, relying on Jews not reading or thinking about the New Testament crucifixion story, written by Jews. This in important. If this is the way Jews think then there's no communicating with them. A major tenet of New Testament (NT) Christian belief is that one must recognize error and repent in lieu of Old Testament (OT) burnt sacrifice. Psychologically, it enables one to learn and move on.

The second objection is just as serious. The ADL is correct. Christianity does teach that the OT God is the same as the NT God. It's the massive flaw in Christianity that supports Christian warfare as well as Christian Zionism. I've previously discussed this as due to the Church's Nicean Councils defining Christianity in the Constantinian Settlement of AD 325 and killing anyone who disagreed for much of the time since.

The OT and NT Gods are different and their ethics are different:

The Old Testament: A late Bronze age Jewish religion once practicing human sacrifice to influence a God who intervenes directly in human affairs and natural phenomena to reward or punish the Jews, His Chosen People. It is oriented around avoiding punishment for sin, defined as neglecting God's commands for behaviour and so, fear of God. It is not learning-oriented and has a static view of a world from which the Jews must defend themselves while waiting for God to use them to bring blessings to Humanity. Meanwhile, enemies are to be killed.

The New Testament: A radical Jewish development of the Old Testament that discards old testament theology and ritual in favour of a Kingdom (culture) of God for all Humankind. This is achieved through love to the extent of loving one's enemies. As based on love the NT fosters a positive state of mind toward others, in accord with God's love for Humanity and forgiveness of sin through repentance. The Culture of God is created by our motives based on love with resulting behaviour. Enemies are to be loved to change them to friends.

You might wonder why I'm so concerned about the bible and religion when there are so many secular (as one might call them) problems to deal with. It's because Christianity for all its faults is the basis of much of our world's culture and ethics, with Jesus its dominant feature. Our culture is in crisis and collapsing, which is giving rise to these practical problems. Without a joint positive view of ourselves in a positive culture, 'the centre cannot hold' and we have chaos. We need to consider where we've come from, where we are, where we're going and how to get there.

The Abrahamic Promise

The ADL's public objection to this cartoon domonstrates how important it is to the Jews that Christians believe that the God of the OT, Yahweh, is the same as the God of the NT. The conflation of the two Gods (or conceptions of God) leads Christians to accept at the present time that the Jews are God's Chosen People by virtue of God's promises to Abraham and their genetics as his descendants.   To Jesus' God no-one is genetically special. What is important is that we love each other, which is the way to the Culture of God.

The Abrahamic Promise is the foundation of the Jews' belief that because they are special to Yahweh they should keep their genetics pure by only marrying other genetically pure Jews although in recent practice there is some flexibility. They have a right to territory from the Nile to the Euphrates, so justifying the Greater Israel Project as not confined to Israel's 1967 borders. They also have a world-benefiting destiny, with Yahweh and the Old Testament their authority.

Conflation of the two Gods in Christian Zionism explains Western support to Israel and the anti-Islamic wars on its behalf. To a naïve or open-minded bible reader independent of the Church, the difference is obvious between Jesus' God who loves humankind and Israel's OT God of war, reward and punishment, burnt sacrifices and human sacrifice. It's group pressure from Church and tradition that conflates Yahweh with Jesus' God.

Abraham, father of the Jews, originator of the Abrahamic Covenant with his bronze-age God, came from Ur of the Chaldees in southern Iraq. Ur at that time, about 4,000 BC had a late bronze age Akkadian human sacrificing culture like most, if not all the nations in that area. That's why he was willing to sacrifice his son to his God. Even after their liberation from Egypt until their Babylonian captivity a thousand years later, the Israelites often reverted to human sacrifice, incorporating it into Yahweh worship as the story of Jephthah shows.

Abraham's God was his favourite from a wide pantheon which evidently continued in Israelite culture through the slavery in Egypt and into the Exodus. As soon as Moses was away for a time contemplating how to manage the Israelites according to his new monotheistic conception of God they made a golden calf and worshipped it. Moses changed their conception of God to Yahweh and Jesus changed Moses' conception of God. He never mentions Yahweh, God of the Jews. Jesus' God is the God of all Humanity.

It's clear that Moses' and Israel's Yahweh conception of God is in no way relevant to the 21st Century, nor to Jesus' teaching. It would seem perverse to conflate the two, however with the Constantinian Settlement it was in the Church's interest to do so. It still is and it's also in Jewish Zionist interests as well.

Yahweh's incorporation into Christianity is the basis of Christian warfare. To have the Jews base their culture on Yahweh rather than Jesus' God is to have a culture based on the cultural ethics of four thousand years ago but without the ameliorating influence of Jesus. We see this in Israel at the present time in its merciless Gaza war and have seen it emerge as Christian warfare over the last two thousand years.

The Doonsbury cartoon highlights the difference between the OT and NT conceptions of God - and it's a vast one. They're plainly not the same God as a moment's reflection, even on the cartoon, will show. The ADL wants them the same to make the Jewish claim to Palestine consistent with Christianity, so legitimizing it to Christians. It's also the basis for Christian Zionists' expectation that Jesus will imminently return in Israel, bringing the Kingdom of heaven. It's discussed in my article of 13 September 2023 here. It's not going to happen.

I'll mention again that anyone can have any religious belief that they wish but if it should lead to harm to others it becomes of public concern. I've discussed in previous articles how both Christianity and Christian Zionism have caused wars with immense harm to others. Recently, the Jewish elites have demonstrably caused harm by the aggressive Jewish colonization of Palestine based on the Abrahamic claim to the land. As I write, the people of Gaza are being starved and murdered in their own land by Jewish colonizers considering themselves to be God's Chosen People but who have in reality been terrorists from the beginning. Ethics have changed in the 3,500 years since Moses and the conception of God since Abraham.

The Anti-Semitism Accusation

For the last 75 or so years, at the same time as colonizing Palestine the Jews have used watcher and lobbying organizations like the ADL and Camera to silence any criticism of Jewish terrorism and land theft. I've experienced this myself as well as having been deceived by Zionist propaganda about what is happening in Palestine and the reasons. The following is briefly my personal experience:

When I retired from management about twenty years ago I took a simple finance job in a London city firm. I was forced out of it by a Jewish manager because I had been debating by email the Jewish claim to Israel with an Israeli in Tel Aviv. He was sending pornography and anti-Palestinian material to a (non-Jewish) member of the firm who was re-distributing it. This was at the time of the 2000-5 second intifada that was constantly in the news. Our work group of four would discuss this during our lunch break. Our discussions were reported to this manager by a young Jewish member of our work group who had presented himself to us as a 'modern' Jew who believed that the Jewish claim to be God's Chosen People was a great mistake and who wanted to marry his non-Jewish girl-friend. Following a visit to his parents in South Africa, all this changed. He went off to Australia and I found that I had serious problems with a manager that I hadn't realized was Jewish. I left rather than have the hassles of a complaint against him that I wasn't going to win.

Twenty years later, this experience came to mind with the widely publicised accusations of anti-Semitism and vilification of Roger Waters of the band Pink Floyd. These accusations were striking and interesting because they had international dimensions. When on tour in South America the Jewish lobbies in Argentina and Uruguay persuaded the hotels in their countries to deny Waters accommodation. He was publicly abused by Jewish Pink Floyd lyricist Polly Samson and condemned by Keir Stamer, UK Labour Party leader who is Jewish, also the Board of Deputies of British Jews, the Anti-defamation league, German government, US government and many others. [Correction: Keir Stamer is not Jewish. His wife is Jewish and he is bringing up his children as Jewish. Full Jewishness is by matrilineal descent.] Stamer is committed to support Israel.

It was immediately clear that a planned Jewish policy exists to damage anyone who criticizes the Jews or questions their claim to Palestine. Jews and Zionists carry it out systematically, by individuals as in my case and collectively against persons of public standing. There's also pro-Jewish/Israeli manipulation using the antisemitism accusation. Jeremy Corbyn the former leader of the UK Labour Party was expelled from the Party on accusations that he was anti-Semitic and supported anti-Semitism by his alleged reluctance to investigate and expel anti-Semites from within the Party. Corbyn is an old-school socialist/communist who is not remotely anti-Semitic but he supports the Palestinian cause. Ousting him made way for the present Jewish leader, Keir Starmer who has a good chance of being UK Prime Minister following elections this year. [See correction in previous paragraph on Stamer's Jewish ethnicity].

On 21 February 2024 the Speaker of the UK Parliament changed parliamentary procedure after a discussion with Keir Starmer. This enabled a scheduled motion by the Scottish National Party for a permanent cease-fire in Gaza to be avoided. It would have gone to a debate and vote, both of which which Zionists of all parties wished to avoid. The debate that took place was about an amendment rather than the motion and the vote on both amendment and motion was by outcry rather than count, which enabled a debate on the war and its causes to be avoided, a falsified decision by the Deputy Speaker and anonymity to our MPs. As I have discussed with evidence in a previous article , the majority of UK Members of Parliament are members of the Friends of Israel Initiative, a Christian Zionist political organization.

The accusation of anti-Semitism is not merely suppression of criticism or self-censorship. Its objective is the creation of an area of forbidden thought within the minds of the general public. We have these areas of inhibition in our minds such as the prohibition on killing other people, on incest and cannibalism. Similarly, animal / human sacrifice to God.

The thought, we say, doesn't enter our minds and there's good reason for that. Those members of our society who entertain such thoughts are considered to have serious neuroses. Those who act on them may be considered to be mentally ill or criminal.

It's clear that the Jews and Christian Zionists are engaged in an a planned policy to eliminate the thought of criticizing the Jews and Israel from the public mind. This is facilitated in the case of Christians due to the OT being an integral part of Christianity, necessitated by the Church's arrangement with the Roman Emperor Constantine.

My friends from church who believe that the Jews are God's Chosen People can't accept that the Jews are doing anything wrong in Israel. They believe that the Jews are taking back the land that God gave them and they're killing Palestinians, even in the present Gaza war, to defend themselves against terrorists who want to kill all Jews. It's factually nonsense but they get their information from the BBC and Church.

Who are the Jews?

The Jews consider themselves as God's Chosen People to be different from everyone else, want to live apart and won't intermarry with others who they consider to have lesser value than themselves to God and His purposes. The attitude shows, which is probably why they've always been disliked. I've been watching them on television murdering Palestinians in Gaza and listening to a Jewish defendant of what they're doing on Sky News. They're correct. They are different from the rest of us.

Gideon Levy, columnist for the Israeli Human Rights organization Haaretz says here (six years ago) that the Jews consider themselves to be the Chosen People and gives an account of Israeli attitudes and policy arising from this. In practice, it means that they are genetically sacred and as The Chosen no-one else can tell them what to do. This is the origin of the USA's exceptionalism adopted by the USA's Zionists in foreign policy and particularly warfare to assist the Jews' Israel project.

Levy poses a rhetorical problem in understanding why Israelis have made Zionism a 'religion' and anyone who doesn't believe in it isn't part of the community. It's because the Jews are defined by the Abrahamic Promise - As God's Chosen they will destroy their enemies and have a great world destiny. He gave them the land that Palestinians, Egyptians, Jordanians, Syrians and Iraqis are occupying between the Nile and the Euphrates. It's inevitable that they'd consider Jewish non-believers in the Greater Israel project aren't real Jews. One can't be Jewish without accepting that. It's the foundation of Judaism, Jewishness and how they see themselves.

The Jews are descended from the great Mesopotamian cultures of Sumeria and Akkadia of 4-6,000 BC whose achievements in agriculture, animal husbandry, mathematics, astronomy and law are the foundations of our present science, religion and culture. These were polytheistic human-sacrificing cultures. Abraham, father of the Jewish tribes, came from Ur of the Chaldees, an Akkadian city, following a human-sacrificing God, from a large pantheon of Gods. Abraham's god, the Old Testament story tells us, demanded that Abraham sacrifice his son to him and Abraham was willing to comply.

Abraham has been incorporated into Christianity as an exemplary man of faith in God. At the present time, if a man were to actually sacrifice his child as Abraham intended, or even think seriously about it, what would we think of him? That's right - he's insane. Abraham wasn't insane. He was acting in accordance with the beliefs and customs of his time that included human sacrifice.

Let's put Abraham and his God into cultural context. In the development of various religions and cultures it is usually believed that the Gods directly influence events in the material world. In attempts to influence them sacrifices are made to them of a sort that relate to the area of the God's interest. Sacrifice can be of animals by way of burnt offerings as in Israel as late as Jesus time or by throwing valueable items of jade, gold or weapons into rivers or lakes. The logical development of this perception of Gods and human attempts to influence them is to sacrifice humans in giving the most valuable of our possessions - human life. There's a lot of revisionism about this practice, particularly in relation to Abraham, but it's a rational development of cultural thought. Although abhorrent today it is part of our understanding of who we've been, who we are and how we relate to the world and indeed cosmos.

Human sacrifice persists unrecognized today. It is apparently rational and simple to believe that benefit can be obtained by killing others when carried out by governments. It is precisely the same religious or (as you wish) causality error in understanding how the cosmos works as hoping for benefits in sacrificing to a God. The present war in Ukraine, potentially nuclear, currently with mass deaths and Europe de-industrializing arose from the Neo-Con Victoria Nuland killing over a hundred people to initiate her 2014 Kiev Coup.

Let's not be inhibited by the antisemitism accusation to note that Victoria Nuland is Jewish.

We're experiencing dangerous events that don't make sense. The Ukraine war is now the worst of them with UK Members of Parliament now talking about military budgets in a pre-war situation (Defence Select Committee 29 March 2024). They have evidently decided to go to war with Russia. It would be courteous if not democratic to ask the British people whether they agree with paying, dying and going cold and hungry for a war that benefits someone else. For whom, we might ask. It's beginning to be clear that with the cross-party cabal of Friends of Israel comprising our Parliament, democracy is collapsing.

When Things Don't Make Sense

When things don't make sense our brains try to fit a pattern to them, so in thinking about Roger Waters I experienced a gestalt, one might say.

Because the Jews fit in with Western liberal culture, cause no overt problems and are part of the bible story to be even now God's Chosen People, we see no reason to suppose that their values are different from our own. Although Western culture does incorporate some Old Testament Jewish values, it has been strongly modified by Jesus to renounce aggressive warfare. That is what is remarkable about the UK's and USA's wars since WWII. They have required gross lies by our politicians to induce their populations to accept the case for war. This is particularly so with their recent Middle Eastern wars and the Ukraine war.

Israel's current military massacres of the imprisoned, helpless Gaza population with starvation and absence of all pity can only be compared in spirit and absence of pity with the USA's much smaller scale Falluja massacre in Iraq, the Iraq sanctions that killed half a million children or the Nazi Holocaust and Israel's biblical massacres. We should note that Madeleine Albright the USA's Secretary of State who oversaw the sanctions on Iraq that caused the deaths of half a million children and who said that it 'was worth it', was Jewish.

The ethics of Jewish culture and the Jews are not at all the same as those of New Testament Christianity which consigns the Old Testament to history in taking us forward.

Israel is a country without borders

The USA is the most powerful country in the world with Israel considered to be its client state. Amazingly the USA continues to supply the weapons with which its client is massacring the population of Gaza. It will not act to stop Israel's massacre and destruction in Gaza, nor to open a border to supply food and medical necessities to a starving war-torn population. It votes in the UN, essentially alone, against stopping the war. This can only mean one thing: the USA cannot stop the Gaza war by its client or even stop supplying weapons.

We need to think differently about Israel. The State of Israel is not in its entirety the physical geographical entity with 1967 borders that is located in Palestine. It is really a state without physical borders. It is the attempt by World Jewry to create not only a country in the Middle East but to have a special place in the entire world, watched over by Yahweh. This is the destiny that Jews have treasured in mind and culture for the last 2,000 years since the destruction of Jerusalem and its Temple. Its Jewish citizens, spread throughout the world, particularly in the USA and Europe have legal citizenship in their states of residence but their primary citizenship and loyalty is to Israel and their destiny in the Abrahamic Promise.

The general view that Israel is the USA's client is not correct. The USA has been colonized and captured by world Israeli citizens. These have intentionally achieved and helped each other to achieve, positions of wealth and political influence such that they are able to dictate US government policy, particularly foreign policy. They are helped in this by misguided Christian Zionists, who I discussed in my article of 23 September 2023.

The USA has become Israel's proxy through which it can and does influence other nations and initiate wars in its own interests and by rights defined by the promises of Yaweh to Abraham. Israeli citizens in other countries act in Israel's interest
even if they harm their countries of residence. We see this in the case of the EU, to its economic and social cost, also with risk of nuclear war. Moreover, Israel can ignore the UN, ICJ and world opinion because it controls the USA and through NATO, Europe.

Greater Israel can be seen not only as a geographical expansion of Israel's physical borders in Palestine but also the extension of Israel and its political influence to other countries through Jews who are citizens of those countries but have primary loyalty to Israel and its objectives, considered further below.

Foreign policy can be influenced by Israeli citizens obtaining positions of political influence as well as influencing politicians though political donations from wealthy Jewish individuals such as George Soros or organizations such as the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) that openly sponsors Jewish or Israel-friendly candidates. Other critical economic interests such as banking and media are controlled by Jewish/Israeli interests. Wealth alone can give this ability as in the case of Rupert Murdoch with enormous media control and George Soros who is currently taking over 227 US radio stations. Both meddle directly in the politics of other countries.

The Afghanistan, Iraq and Middle Eastern Wars

Tony Blair bartered the lives of UK and European personnel in the murderous Afghanistan and Iraq wars for personal gain and to support Israel and Jewish interests. His closest advisors were Jewish; Peter Mandelson whose father was Jewish, Peter Goldsmith his Attorney General who ruled the Iraq war legal, Lord Levy who used to shuttle between Blair and Tel Aviv and the billionaire media baron, Rupert Murdoch. Murdoch's visits to Blair and other Prime Ministers were so frequent that he was reported to use the back door to avoid comment. He was the essential guarantor that Blair, a Friend of Israel, would be rewarded for his role in supporting George Bush in the Iraq and other wars. Israel awarded him one million dollars and he was given an advisor's job with Jamie Dimon (Jewish) at JP Morgan bank at one million dollars per year. Without supporting America's wars based on lies to help Israel, he would have been given nothing.

The Ukraine War

Murdoch played the same role with Boris Johnson who has Jewish ancestry and wrecked the Istanbul agreement between Ukrainian President Zelensky who is Jewish and Vladimir Putin.   Johnson arrived in Kiev on 9 April 2022. The Mirror reported in November 2022 that Murdoch had paid all his expenses for a flight to the USA to give a short speech at an insurance agents' conference for which he was paid £276,130, date not reported. While there Murdoch flew him to Montana where he has a ranch for a private meeting.

At the time of the Mirror report Johnson had an appearance with fees scheduled at a blockchain meeting in Singapore. Johnson knows nothing about blockchain which is a technical subject, nor insurance for that matter. It is by these means that people such as Blair and Johnson are bought and paid for when they do favours and errands for the rich. It is astonishing how cheaply these two Prime Ministers with their country, were bought in relation to the enormous human and material damage that they have done in service to their paymasters.

Janet Yellen, US Treasury Secretary who wants to give USD 300 billion plus interest in frozen Russian funds to Ukraine is also Jewish. She is well aware that this would greatly damage Western countries and their banking system but is in favour of it just the same. Like Anthony Blinken heading communication with Israel, Jewish front operatives are the most trusted for important Neo-Con operations.

Yellen recently warned China not to supply military gear to Russia under threat of 'significant consequences' and complained about China's competition that threatens US workers' jobs. As the US is supplying weapons to Ukraine and Israel, surely it's fair and free market capitalism for China to supply anything they wish to whomever they wish.

So, in promoting the Ukraine War we have Victoria Nuland, the billionaire Murdoch and Zelensky who are all Jewish together with Johnson who has Jewish ancestry. These are the key players in commencing the Ukraine war and keeping it going by rejecting the already agreed draft of the Istanbul peace treaty. The Istanbul treaty was not rejected because of its terms as the USA claims but because Johnson assured Zelensky that he could win the war with weapons supplied by the USA and EU.

It is incomprehensible that anyone who values human life or has empathy with others could lead this war in Europe as Johnson has boasted and keep it going rather than support a peaceful solution. It's the same mentality that puzzled General Wesley Clark who viewed the task of the USA's army as preventing wars rather than starting them.

Let's recall that General Wesley Clark was astonished to be told a few days after the September 11 2001 World Trade Centre attack that the USA's response was to be an attack on Iraq and six more countries within five years. A Neo-Con policy coup had occurred in Washington, he said.

The acknowledged Neo-Con Victoria Newland led the 2014 Kiev coup that started the Ukraine war so let's take a closer look at the Neo-Cons.

Who are the Neo-Conservatives (Neo-Cons)?

The Neo-Cons originated soon after WWII as a small group of Jewish ex-Marxist intellectuals who had become disenchanted with Marxism and had emigrated to the USA. They were interested in social policy and economics and were not concerned with foreign policy. They were dubbed Neo-Conservatives by former political colleagues of the left because they had shifted so far to the right that they were beyond liberal democracy. Irving Kristol and Norman Podhoretz both variously said to be Godfathers of the Neo-Cons were central to this group.

A little background history here is relevant:

At this time, popular liberalism in the US was increasing and the US was at war in Vietnam (1955-75). George McGovern, Senator from 1963 - 1981 was dedicated to ending the war and possibly helped that by influencing the provision of military resources. The war ended with US defeat shortly prior to the liberal administration of Jimmy Carter (1977-81). With his realist, liberal, National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski, Carter adopted a non-confrontational foreign policy. He normalized relations with China and negotiated the Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty (SALT) with Russia.

Additional to its defeat in Vietnam, another USA reverse was the Iranian Islamic Revolution in February 1979 during Carter's presidency with siege of the US embassy. Carter's attempt at firm action by Special Forces evacuation of the embassy failed. Both he and the USA were seen as weak and humiliated due to these reverses.

The Neo-Cons noted all this and the perception of foreign policy weakness. Irving Kristol had written earlier in 1973 during the Vietnam War, in Congress Bi-Weekly, a publication of the American Jewish Congress:

"Senator McGovern is very sincere when he says that he will try to cut the military budget by 30%. And this is to drive a knife in the heart of Israel... Jews Don't like big military budgets. But it is now an interest of the Jews to have a large and powerful military establishment in the United States... American Jews who care about the survival of the state of Israel have to say, no, we don't want to cut the military budget, it is important to keep that military budget big, so that we can defend Israel." (Italics added)

Philip Weiss, quoting Kristol in May 2007 in Mondoweiss, an American-Jewish human rights blog, commented "That was a neocon mission statement. Until journalists come to terms with these powerful, dangerous ideas Americans' understanding of the Iraq war will remain cloudy".

Norman Podhoretz, writing about the centrality of Israel in Breaking Ranks (1979) said:

"There was, to be sure, one thing that many of even the most passionately committed American Zionists were reluctant to do, and that was to face up to the fact that continued American support for Israel depended upon continued American involvement in international affaires - from which it followed that an American withdrawal into the kind of isolationist mood that prevailed most recently between the two world wars, and that now looked as though it might soon prevail again, represented a direct threat to the security of Israel." (Italics by Philip Weiss quoting Podhoretz in Mondoweiss April 24 2007)

By 'American involvement' in international affairs' Podhoretz clearly means military involvement, ie force. Philip Weiss's article about this quote is included here as Appendix 1 as well as via the link above.

Weiss says that the Neo-Cons had no political power at this time and had to wait 30 years for their opportunity. That opportunity came with the attack on the World Trade Centre (WTC) on September 11 2001 during GW Bush's presidency.

In 1997 Irving Kristol's son Bill Kristol had started a Washington think tank called 'Project For The New American Century' (PNAC) with Robert Kagan (Jewish) that had the objective of supporting Israel by influencing US foreign policy-makers to make America the world's dominant military power. This would protect Israel as Irving Kristol, Podhoretz and the Neo-Cons generally believed. Bill Kristol had been Chief of Staff to Vice President, Dan Quale (a PNAC signatory) from January 1989 to January 1983 under George HW Bush. Kristol was Quale's influencer, knew everyone important in Washington and was in a good position to communicate PNAC's views to them.

The core Jewish PNAC associates attracted influential non-Jews whose interests were in supporting the military-industrial complex, such as Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheyney as well as careerists such as Condoleeza Rice and Nikki Haley.    Of the twenty-five PNAC associates who signed its original Statement of Principles, ten served in the GW Bush administration including Rumsfeld, Cheyney, Richard Perle (Jewish) 'Scooter' Libby (Jewish) and Paul Wolfowitz (Jewish). Wolfowitz was the immensely influential strategist who served under the Reagan, GHW Bush and GW Bush administrations. In initiating the Iraq war Rumsfeld was Bush's Secretary of Defence and Wolfowitz was his Deputy.

PNAC produced a strategy document entitled Rebuilding America's Defences with a useful summary here. When the WTC attack occurred this was ready to hand for use as the basis for the Bush Doctrine that remains the core of the USA's foreign policy. Interventions and warfare are justified as fighting for democracy. I recall immediately prior to the Iraq war when there was British hesitancy, Richard Perle harangued us on the BBC for half an hour how it was our obligation to free the Iraqi people from Saddam Hussein and give them democracy. He neglected to mention stealing their oil that everyone even then believed was the objective, nor how it was in Israel's interests which at that time was not clear. Nevertheless, I marched against the war with a million others in London. Tony Blair ignored us and led the UK and Europe into the Iraq war on lies - for which he is still being well paid.

We should notice that it was under the Clinton administration with its Jewish Deputy National Security Advisor Sandy Berger that in 1999 NATO made its first movement east following the collapse of the Soviet Union (1991). Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic were incorporated into NATO.   This was doubtless possible because Berger was deputy to Zbigniew Brzezinski, National Security Advisor who was Polish and hated Russia for the Soviet occupation and Katyn Forest murders. They also armed the Mujhadeen in Afghanistan against Russia. Brzezinski is credited with that clever move, but Berger had the entire Neo-Con apparatus behind him thinking about how to create wars for Israel. Berger was convicted of theft of classified documents for which he was fired and as a lawyer, disbarred by the Bar Council. Details are sparse, but reasonable conjecture is that he was spying for Israel.

Continuing this theme, 'Scooter' Libby, (Jewish) National Security Advisor and Chief of Staff to Vice President Donald Rumsfeld during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars was sentenced to prison for federal offences connected with the Valerie Plame case. Libby was involved in punishing the Plames by revealing that Valerie was a CIA agent. Her husband had revealed that President Bush's claim that Saddam Hussain was obtaining uranium concentrate from Chad for a nuclear weapon was false, so undermining an important part of Bush's case for war against Iraq. Trump gave Libby a full pardon. It doesn't matter who the President is. The objectives are the same.

In any event, at this time the USA was the sole world superpower and the PNAC idea that it should be the world's benevolent hegemon was agreeable to the American public and particularly to its Military-Industrial complex.

When General Wesley Clark identified the Neo-Cons as the people who had staged the Washington Coup and were behind the Middle Eastern wars he named Bill Kristol, Richard Perle, Rumsfeld, Cheyney and others from the Policy For The New American Century. Their common interest was that the USA should have a militarily assertive foreign policy in spreading democracy. This was openly discussed in the media as good for jobs in the USA and good for the world, obviously with no mention of Israel's interests.

In passing, General Clark also mentions meeting 'Scooter' Libby in 1991 in Paul Wolfowitz's office when Wolfowitz was Undersecretary for Defence for Policy and Libby was working for him as principal deputy under-secretary for strategy and resources. Both were signatories to PNAC's original principles.

Dennis Kucinich, (Jewish) member of the US House of Representatives, identifies the Neo-Cons as the drivers of the USA's ethnic and religious conflicts world-wide. The Neo-Cons' role was ignored by the mainstream media but was widely recognized in the anti-war media. In 2008 Kucinich introduced articles of impeachment against President George W Bush in the House of Representatives for the invasion and occupation of Iraq. A minority of Jews recognize the danger to the Jews of the Neo-Cons' USA/Israel policy, such as Kucinich, Norman Finklestein and Gideon Levy.

It is useful to listen to Norman Finklestein a political scientist whose parents were Holocaust survivors. Finklestein speaks against Israel and the Netanyahu government for the current outrages in Gaza but is careful to avoid mention of the Neo-Cons or the involvement of American Jewry, much less Neo-Con and Jewish involvement in the Ukraine war. (Start watching the video around point 15 to avoid preliminaries).

Bearing in mind Irving Kristol's objective for the Neo-Cons to maintain a powerful and assertive US military force to protect Israel, enemies were needed. Russia was ideal. As well as apparently being weak, by making it an enemy the new market-capitalist Russia could be prevented from integrating its economy with Western Europe, as both Europe and Russia wanted. If all went well, there was the possibility of controlling Russia or breaking it up into ethnic-based oblasts that could be easily manipulated. If it came to war, NATO could fight with the battleground in Europe.

This conversation with Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson shows how informed Americans who are sceptical of the USA's support of Israel cannot understand why the USA supports the slaughter in Israel. Wilkerson is puzzled by Anthony Blinken, Assistant Secretary of State's willingness to lie under oath to send weapons to Israel.   Blinken is Jewish. Americans have had the ability to notice Jewish political activity and the core Neo-Cons' Jewish identity eradicated from their minds.

All well educated Jews know what the Neo-Cons and Israeli elites are doing in the USA, Europe, Ukraine, and Israel. With few exceptions they support it. Israel and the Jewish elites are not waiting for God to give them their promised land and destiny as benefactors and as His Chosen People doubtless a special position. Rulers perhaps? They have waited for over four thousand years and I suggest are impatient, so are attempting to seize their heritage and destiny. They are assisted by ideological Christian Zionists and secular Military-Industrial war profiteers. Christians generally are indifferent or supportive due to the reasons we commenced with here with the Doonsbury cartoon.

We should consider what they might have in mind.

What are Israel's objectives, destiny and strategy?

The following quote is attributed here to Irving Kristol, Jewish Godfather of the Neo-Con cabal. I cannot authenticate it, but it fits and I recognize the frame of mind.

"If God does not exist and if religion is an illusion that the majority of men cannot live without… let men believe in the lies of religion since they cannot do without them… and let a handul of sages, who know the truth and can live with it, keep it among themselves. Men are than divided into the wise and the foolish, the philosophers and the common men and atheism becomes a guarded esoteric doctrine - for if the illusions of religion were to be discredited, there is no telling with what madness men would be seized, with what uncontrollable anguish."

In short, this means that the Jewish Neo-Cons, ex-Marxists, see themselves as the sages, the philosophers who know the Truth about religion and will wisely use the illusions of Christianity (Christian Zionism in particular) and Judaism - or any religion - to achieve their version of good - which commences with the good of the Jews. In reality we see this as a massacre in Gaza as I write.

Let us speculate a little about what the bigger picture might be.

With the need for the USA's military strength to protect Israel we have the vision of the 'forever wars'. Enemies are needed because only enemies will justify maintaining external military US power. The USA is to directly attack Israel's enemies as in the Middle Eastern wars or by having them fight between themselves as the USA's proxies while Israel grows stronger and is able to expand its influence over time.

We might imagine a very long-term strategy here since the Jews are accustomed to thinking of their past history in terms of centuries and millenia and will think of their future in similar terms.

We might say that Kristol's comment itself is a lie. He still believes in God - that is, Yahweh of the OT because he still believes in Israel's claim to the land. He believes that he and his Neo-Cons are a special people, whether to God or not, with a destiny of bringing blessings to the world that can only come from rule by a Jewish elite who understand the realities of life on earth. The culture that supports him is the Jewish OT culture that the Jews have preserved for the last 2,000 years and are attempting to bring into existence in an Israel without boundaries. To have a philosophy or any objective of merit for the Jews or anyone else he must believe this.

We might take Kristol's comments at face value, that he does not believe in religion and that God is irrelevant if He exists at all. Kristol then becomes merely an opportunist who perceives the Jews as a people ripe for manipulation. They are willing to believe that their God-given destiny may be achieved and the tolerant Christian democracies that also believe in God's promises to the Jews are a perfect environment for exploitation. There is no philosophy or any objective of merit in this view.

This appears to be the Neo-Con view, that is, of a world in which ethics have no place as an impediment to power and lies are legitimate. The Neo-Cons will formulate ethics as they see fit. This is what we see in Israel, Gaza and by the instigators of the Ukraine War. It is possible that ethics literally no longer exist for the Neo-Cons and their acolytes whose only inhibition against worse crimes is the possible reactions of the populations whom they deceive.

We always assumed that there is a limit to inhumanity in the Christian countries despite our wars. Hitler surpassed our worst fears and the USA's crimes against civilians in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia demonstrated potential to the Neo-Cons for developing Guantanamo Bay with reappearance of torture in a facility built for the purpose.   Guantanamo was 'legal' because it was geographically outside both USA and Cuban law with no national law and consequently no ethics whatever applicable to what happened there. With its total absence of ethics, its destroyed records and men known to be innocent still imprisoned there, Guantanamo is a clear window into the minds of the Neo-Cons and their American collaborators. There's no need to have ethics outside the USA or collaborating countries. Universal human ethics don't exist.

Everyone in the USA now knows this, that their government at the highest level secretly tortured people in a place outside law and ethics and no-one has been held to account. Our minds automatically generalize from such examples, which is why even the mistreatment of a single individual is important. It's a fact that will have a corrosive effect on trust in their government and perception of the Neo-Cons and Jews. It's how sudden mass-supported events occur, such as the collapse of South African apartheid and communism as economic practice. Yeltsin's agreement with Belarus and Ukraine to dissolve the Soviet Union was the trigger but Yegor Gaidar wrote of its inherent economic instability. The American war-state created by the Jewish Neo-Cons that is without universal ethics and is in unaffordable debt is unstable ethically and economically.

The Neo-Cons have created decay in the Western Christian ethical and economic structure that on present trend will collapse in a NATO war against Russia. If New Testament ethics collapse, Yahweh's ethics will be the component of Christianity remaining. The Jews should reflect on what happened the last time this occurred when Hitler had time in prison to ponder a route to power and (I speculate) studied the bible and history of the Jews. Hitler liked Nietzsche but Nietzsche was a theorist who said that God was dead. The Jews however, had been the real thing as the Chosen People of God. Here we have his Aryan race, a thousand year Reich like Jesus' reign and the Ubermensch, a 'higher man' who was Hitler himself of course. He also seems remarkably like Irving Kristol.

The Neo-Cons' wars in the Middle East and Ukraine have brought the rapid rise of the allegedly far-right AFD in Germany due to immigration and economic problems. The AFD positions itself as a peace party, but who knows? The Germans are attempting to ban it but we've seen this movie before. Factor in Israel's behaviour in Gaza with Germany's extraordinary weapons support to killing Palestinians and you can see what's happening. Dysfunction. Whatever the AFD intend there are going to be massive changes in sentiment and politics in Europe and Yahweh is a two-edged sword.

Jewish leaders, helped by the Neo-Cons, in the USA, Israel and Europe are attempting to achieve Israel's destiny by fulfiling God's promise that Abraham's descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies and through them, all nations on the earth will be blessed. God also gave Abraham the land from the Nile to the Euphrates, that is, part of Egypt, all Jordan and as far as half way through Iraq, or from Cairo to Basra near Ur where Abraham had come from, about 1,600 miles or 2,600 km. Probably Kuwait too.

At the moment, Israel is attempting to provoke Iran and Syria into making direct attacks on itself to induce the USA to attack them as it did Iraq and incidentally, Afghanistan. Afghanistan has always been a puzzle that previously I have tried to understand as a warning to the Saudis. From a Zionist perspective it was simply an exercise to get an American war going in the Middle East using American anger following the 9/11 WTC attack. Once there and at war it was simple to use a barrage of lies to turn them on Iraq which was the main Israeli target. Afghanistan wasn't important and might have looked easy, which it was until the Taliban organized themselves. Iraq having been subdued and still under occupation, Syria and Iran remain as Israel's immediate Islamic enemies.

Then there is the Ukraine war, a war against Russia with the first moves under Clinton in 1999 but it had probably been planned from the moment the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991. The Neo-Cons aren't simple warmongers as generally perceived. They're strategists.   Russia and the Soviet Union had always supported Israel's direct Islamic enemies and there was probably an historic grudge about the treatment of the Jews within Russia and the Pale of Settlement.

The Neo-Con view appears to have been that the USA and Europe combined might well be able to take over Russia to Israel's advantage. If not, a war to weaken both Europe and Russia is extremely useful. The USA, Israel's proxy would have enhanced opportunity for control in Europe. Israel would gain relative power since with weakening of powerful countries, less powerful countries become relatively stronger and Israel's secret weapon is its Jewish/Israeli occupants of high places in Europe as well as the USA.

It is evident from what we see in Gaza that to the Jews, non-Jewish lives are of no value, also seen in Ukraine following Victoria Nuland's murders in the Kiev 2014 coup. That war, started and continued by the Washington Neo-Cons is now taking a huge toll of both Ukrainian and Russian lives.

It's alarming that escalation continues to increase. I listened on the BBC to a Parliamentary Select Committee discussing the defence budget a few days ago. It was boring until a casual mention that Members should bear in mind that the Government is in a pre-war situation. No-one commented on it. The UK is evidently going to war against Russia. Doubtless this includes NATO and our politicians are treating it as business as usual.

The Danger to Israel and the Jews

Scott Ritter, an American former United Nations weapons inspector who has worked in Iraq and Israel, now opposed to the West's wars, believes that Israel can change and make peace with the Palestinians. He gives an account of working with the Israelis in 1995 when Yitzhak Rabin was Prime Minister. On 4th November 1995 Ritter was driving with an Israeli intelligence officer through the square at which Rabin was to have a peace rally. It was in support of the Oslo accords as a step toward peace with the Palestinians. The Israeli told Ritter not to attend the rally. Ritter asked why and was told that Rabin was going to be killed, not by Hamas but by right-wing Israelis. (I suggest copying this video because it's likely to be deleted).

Ritter's story really proves that there's no possibility of peace between the Israelis and Palestinians. Rabin's killing to make way for Netanyahu had high level approval that could neutralize Israeli Intelligence.

Israeli Intelligence knew of Rabin's impending assassination but had clearly been ordered to keep out of it. Who could do that? Were they and the army in collusion with Netanyahu the next Prime Minister and the far right? Very unlikely. Netanyahu couldn't possibly act against Israel's external benefactors mostly in the United States. That decision had probably been made by Israel's Jewish-American money and power brokers, the billionaires like the Rothschilds, Murdoch and bankers of the Federal Reserve (that is neither Federal nor a reserve bank) with their equivalents in Europe. Philip Weiss identifies the billionaire Sheldon Adelson who was a major supporter of Netanyahu as engaged in annulling the peace process in the year 2000. He or others like him probably approved the 1995 assassination. This is, I suggest, a glimpse of the true Israel that is a Jewish Zionist network existing alongside other Western governments in plain sight. We've been conditioned not to see or speak of it by the anti-Semitic accusation and associated penalties.

I am not the only one now examining in detail what the Jews and Israel are doing. It is inevitable that the truth will soon be generally seen and it will be bad news for Israel and the Jews. If pogroms do not start again, the Jews will never be trusted as they have been for the last 75 years. If they wish to fight as they did against Rome they will be eliminated or will self-destruct as they did at Masada.

The Jews are extreme people and have taken enormous and unnecessary risks in what they are doing. Their nuclear weapons, also like Yahweh, are a two-edged sword since they are consistent with His ethics. Should it appear that they might be used, other nuclear powers could well obliterate Israel with a first strike. This account of Israel's Samson strategy by the Jewish historian Martin Van Crevald from 2003 that I have seen quoted elsewhere is a must-read. The text is at appendix II below. Van Crevald has said on other occasions that European capitals are currently targets and will be destroyed if Israel 'goes down.'

I included in my article of 23 September 2023 an article by Hose Maria Aznar, ex-Prime Minister of Spain and leading member of the Christian Zionist Friends of Israel Initiative in which he said "If Israel goes down we all go down." That appears to be what Martin Van Crevald is talking about - nuclear retaliation if Israel cannot get its own way. It's a genuinely insane attitude and an extremely dangerous one not only for Israel but the world as well. The Friends of Israel Initiative have a majority in the UK parliament.

You might wish to listen here to Matthew Hoh's formal and conventional speech on 22 March to the UN Security Council about the dangers of the Ukraine war escalating to nuclear conflict. About 10 days later he discussed this informally with Scott Horton an ex-army colleague here, which was much more interesting. They talked about the Neo-Cons and individuals connected with the conflict such as the Kagans who are related by marriage to Victoria Nuland (Robert Kagan with Bill Kristol started the Project for the New American Century as above). Both Hoh and Horton discussed these Neo-Cons as if they were simply Americans. They're not. They're Israelis first in loyalty and Americans only legally and in residence.

Laws and traditional loyalties no longer matter. I've said in a previous article 'Bronze-age Yahweh has been let loose in the world'. That is the genius of the strategy of vilification of any criticism of Israel or the Jews in making the Israeli population, followers of Yahweh world-wide invisible. We're not allowed to see that they're there and are punished if we do.

In this article by the 'establishment' orientated Carnegie Institute it is admitted that George Bush's (with his Neo-Cons) unilateral withdrawal from the anti-ballistic (ABM) missile treaty with Russia was a mistake that created a new arms race. It also made it much more likely that future wars will turn nuclear. Only three months after the 9/11 WTC attack, when the the Neo-Cons had just seized power in Washington, were they planning a nuclear war against Russia? It was obvious that leaving the ABM treaty would undermine deterrence. We now have the Ukraine war and the British Government, for one, in a 'pre-war situation'. It appears that a NATO incursion into Ukraine is being planned, with greatly increased probability of a Russian nuclear response.

The point of these wars is that it doesn't matter which country the USA attacks or who dies, as Irving Kristol and his followers think. Warfare by the USA is in itself to Israel's advantage in achieving its destiny. Nothing else matters. I haven't thought about this until now. Israel has only now demonstrated in Gaza that present Jewish culture is no different from what it was nearly four thousand years ago. We've been lied to by the Jews with their propaganda in the past and we've seen on television that they're lying about what they're doing at present in Gaza. I lost my job for asking legitimate questions of Israel as I asked questions about Apartheid when I was in South Africa. I've experienced in a small way the same ethics and way of thinking that the Palestinians are experiencing and that is being displayed to the world.

Would a nuclear war be to Israel's advantage? Possibly if confined to Europe. Weakening the EU, UK and Russia would make Israel relatively stronger and provide cover for its own nuclear attacks on neighbouring countries to weaken them and seize territory. One should watch the movement of Jewish populations out of Europe. Conceivably, the current seizure of Palestinian land in both Gaza and the West Bank is to make space for such immigration. There seems to be unnecessary violence and urgency about it. The gradualist approach was working well and drawing little attention.

Another possible driver of nuclear war is the Friends of Israel's belief that Jesus' return is imminent as signaled by the establishment of the State of Israel. If they believe that, they could well believe that a nuclear war is fulfilment of Bible prophecy and will trigger Jesus' return. Seriously. They believe that the Jews are God's Chosen People and Jesus will return imminently to take them to heaven. Most of the UK members of Parliament are Friends of Israel which is why the UK went to war against Israel's Islamic enemies, why we support Israel now and are at war with Russia. NATO is part of the American war machine that's been hijacked by the Neo-Cons to support God's Chosen People and Israel.

To understand Israel we need to think in terms of an international Israeli leadership that is not confined to Israel, nor even in the Israeli Knesset. It is clearly a dispersed network with Israel's citizens in many countries, particularly in the USA and UK coordinating the same policies of political control with sanctions for anti-Semitism everywhere and the same ambition. To survive the Jews have to give up the Abrahamic Promise that is driving them apart from the rest of humanity because they think that they're special to God. They're not and if they don't abandon this belief that is making non-Jews their enemies they will find every hand in the world against them.

The world has seen by their murder with starvation of the people of Gaza that as God's Chosen People we cannot live with their ethics and their God. They have to change. If they don't change they risk another holocaust. It appears that Hitler modelled his treatment of the Jews on the biblical account of how they had treated the inhabitants of the land that Yahweh gave them. He might have seen it as justice. It's no use the Jews blaming Benyamin Netanyahu and the Likud Party and waiting until everyone forgets Gaza. The Gaza war has made visible the Israeli parallel government that has seized control of Western governments . Their Neo-Con objective is to create wars anywhere at all to protect Israel and to create opportunity for Israel and the Jews.

The Way Forward

Israel has no right whatever to exist. It's a colonial name and entity that should revert to Palestine. The Jews have to live in equality and harmony with the Palestinians to stay safe. To accept this they need to accept that the Torah (first five books of the Bible) are past history. I know that it's a big ask, but Jesus gave them the same choice two thousand years ago and they chose wrongly. It's a second chance against another holocaust. The Nazis were a serious warning. They will be safe in creating their own New Testament Christianity based on their Prophet Jesus and the account that was written by Jews after all, so it's by no means a foreign imposition. Jesus tells us how to live together and where humanity is going by following him and his God of love. We're developing the Kingdom of God and need to do it together.

This applies to the Muslims too. As I've said previously, the Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him) calls Jesus the Messenger of God but does not mention his message. I discussed this with Hafiz Zakir, the imam at a local mosque, and asked him why this might be the case. He replied that it was not the right time - which must be the case.

The time is now for Muslims to forgive and live with the Jews who must recognize the reality of who they are in the 21st century.

To repeat, the message is:

Love God
Love your neighbour as yourself
Love your enemies
Teach the Kingdom (Culture) of God

This is why Jesus came - to teach the culture of God and how to achieve it by following these principles with their emergent properties. It's achievable in the real world by following Jesus' message but whether that's true or not, by following his instructions we'll be creating good in reality whatever the truth is. If he returns from Heaven, so much the better, but rationally the probability is zero.

As for Christianity, the Old Testament has to be regarded as history with New Testament Christianity adopted for teaching and hopefully consistent with a re-imagined Islam and Judaism. It should rejuvenate and reactivate our passive Christianity, failing which, this hybrid Christianity will die a lingering death. Others will take Jesus' message forward. Humanity will go forward with or without the Christian Church that has held us back for far too long.

Legalities, clever and subtle arguments, lies, deception and violence are all in play by all parties at the moment and they're only taking us into deeper disaster. We need practical real-world ethics in a critical situation for Israel, the West and the world. What other source exists for constructive ethics but those of Jesus?

The following quote is from remarks made in January, 2003 and published in the promient Dutch publication 'Elsevier' Magazine. Much has progressed for the Israeli military since 2003 and the subject of its Bioweapons capability is not even addressed directly.

(IAP News) - An Israeli professor and military historian hinted that Israel could avenge the holocaust by annihilating millions of Germans and other Europeans.

Speaking during an interview which was published in Jerusalem Friday, Professor Martin Van Creveld said Israel had the capability of hitting most European capitals with nuclear weapons.

"We possess several hundred atomic warheads and rockets and can launch them at targets in all directions, perhaps even at Rome. Most European capitals are targets of our air force."

Creveld, a professor of military history at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, pointed out that "collective deportation" was Israel's only meaningful strategy towards the Palestinian people.

"The Palestinians should all be deported. The people who strive for this (the Israeli government) are waiting only for the right man and the right time. Two years ago, only 7 or 8 per cent of Israelis were of the opinion that this would be the best solution, two months ago it was 33 per cent, and now, according to a Gallup poll, the figure is 44 percent."

Creveld said he was sure that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon wanted to deport the Palestinians.

"I think it's quite possible that he wants to do that. He wants to escalate the conflict. He knows that nothing else we do will succeed."

Asked if he was worried about Israel becoming a rogue state if it carried out a genocidal deportation against Palestinians, Creveld quoted former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Dayan who said "Israel must be like a mad dog, too dangerous to bother."

Creveld argued that Israel wouldn't care much about becoming a rogue state.

"Our armed forces are not the thirtieth strongest in the world, but rather the second or third. We have the capability to take the world down with us. And I can assure you that this will happen before Israel goes under."

Interview with the much reviled Dutch-Israeli Military Historian Martin van Creveld

Professor Martin van Creveld, an internationally known and controversial professor of military history at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, foresees only extreme developments for the appreciable future. The methods by which Israel is currently combating the Intifada are doomed to failure. The chances for peace and the founding of a Palestinian state are visibly diminishing. A conversation with a pessimist, who, as he himself says, is reviled in his own country.

Interviewer: Your specialty is war. Is what's going on here war at all?

Creveld: Certainly, although the Palestinians have no government, no army, and no [nationality]. Everything is in chaos. That's why we won't win the war, either. If we could identify and eliminate every terrorist, we'd win this struggle within forty-eight hours. The Palestinian administration has the same difficulties. Even in Arafat decided to comply with our conditions and surrender tomorrow, it's virtually certain that the Intifada would continue.

Interviewer: Are there any similarities on the Israeli side?

Creveld: If the dispute lasts much longer, the Israeli government will lose control of its people. For people will say: "If government can't protect us, what on earth can they do for us? If the government can't guarantee that we'll be alive tomorrow, what good are they? We'll defend ourselves."

Interviewer: So Israel is beaten in advance?

Creveld: On that I'll quote Henry Kissinger: "In campaigns like this the antiterror forces lose, because they don't win, and the rebels win by not losing." That certainly applies here. I regard a total Israeli defeat as unavoidable. That will mean the collapse of the Israeli state and society. We'll destroy ourselves.

Interviewer: Is there any point to the recent Israeli military offensive?

Creveld: This offensive is totally useless; it's only further enraging the Palestinians. Perhaps there will be a short-lived calm, but in the end there will even more suicide attackers.

Interviewer: Is there any hope?

Creveld: If I were Arafat, I wouldn't stop either. I'd only cease in exchange for a very far-reaching political accord. And it seems as if we have a government [under Sharon-tr.] that won't make Arafat such an offer. If elections were held today, the Left would be thoroughly beaten.

Interviewer: Some maintain that it is Israel's foreign enemies that keep the country unified.

Creveld: That's right. I only wish that there were foreign enemies, but that isn't the case. We've fought our external enemies for so many years. Each time there was a war, we took a mighty hammer to our foes, and after being defeated a few times, they left us alone. The problem with the Palestinian revolt is that it doesn't come from without, but rather from within. Therefore we can't avail ourselves of the hammer.

Interviewer: Is the solution, then, to keep the Palestinians outside the borders?

Creveld: Exactly, and right now there's nearly unanimous agreement on that. We ought to build a wall "so high, that not even a bird can fly over it." The only problem is: where to put the border? Since we can't decide whether the territories conquered in 1967 should be included, for the time being we improvise a little. We're building a series of little walls, which are much more difficult to defend. From a military standpoint this is very stupid. Every supermarket has gradually acquired its own living wall of security guards. Half the Israeli population is guarding the other half-unbelievable. Aside from the fantastic waste, it's almost totally useless.

Interviewer: Does that mean that the Palestinians stay within the borders?

Creveld: No, it means that they all get deported. The people who strive for this are waiting only for the right man and the right time. Two years ago only 7 or 8 percent of Israelis were of the opinion that this would be the best solution, two months ago it was 33 percent and now, according to a Gallup poll, the figure is 44 percent.

Interviewer: Will that ever be possible?

Creveld: Sure, since desperate times give rise to desperate measures. Today there's a fifty-fifty split on where the border should run. Two years ago 90 percent wanted the wall built along the old border. That has completely changed now, and if things continue, if the terror doesn't stop, in another two years perhaps 90 percent will want to build the wall along the Jordan. The Palestinians talk of "summutt," meaning hang tough, cling to the ground and the soil. I have enormous respect for the Palestinians. They fight heroically. But if we in fact want to strike across the Jordan, we would need only a few brigades. If the Syrians or the Egyptians were to try to stop us, we'd wipe them out. Ariel Sharon is leader. He never improvises: he always has a plan.

Interviewer: A plan to deport the Palestinians?

Creveld: I think it's quite possible that he wants to do that. He wants to escalate the conflict. He knows that nothing else we do will succeed.
